About Us

St. Paul's is a Christian Church.

What does this mean?

It means we are "Christ-followers"!

Together with Christians of all times and places we proclaim that Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God, truly a human being born to Mary in Bethlehem, and truly God, eternally begotten of God the Father. Jesus lived a sinless life on earth, was crucified while carrying the weight of the whole world’s sin, and after three days rose again to new life. He ascended to heaven and now reigns over all things with God the Father, yet He is ‘always with us’. He has promised to return in glory at the end of time to gather His people to eternal life.

The ‘Good News’ is that this same Jesus has already paid the price for our sins and put us into a right relationship with God.

What does this mean?

The unique flavor of Lutheran Christianity is expressed in three great principles:

  • Scripture alone: The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian teaching.
  • Grace alone: God loves the people of the world, even though we are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. God sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.
  • Faith alone: By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for us. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.

St. Paul's is a member congregation of the Atlantic District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS). The LCMS is a body of 2 million Christians from around the world.
